Co-op Dinner
The LAA will be hosting a co-op dinner event for Laurier co-op students. This event will provide an opportunity to network with the recruiters and representatives of the top accounting firms in the industry. The general schedule will provide mingling opportunities with appetizers as well as a full sit-down dinner.
Tax Clinic
February and March hold busy schedules and little free time for the majority of Laurier Business students. Consequentially, few find time to dedicate to filing their taxes on time. In response to this established need, the LAA has designed a Tax Clinic to aid students through the training of student leaders and the implementation of an on-site tax filing system. The Tax Clinic holds a chance to further spread firm awareness on the Laurier campus and extend a positive image towards the students.
Socials
The Laurier Accounting Association recognizes that accounting isn't just about work; it's about a work-life balance. This, accompanied with the fact that teamwork is vital the success of any accountant aspiring or established, has fuelled the facilitation of several team-building social events for members of the accounting association to interact and network with each other. Case Competitions
The LAA facilitates and organizes attendance and participation in several case competitions throughout the year. LAA case teams will be provided with team apparel to wear to the competitions, branded with both the LAA and Firm's logos.
Conferences
We also participate in many regional conferences organized by accounting associations or other organizations. Keep an eye out for these opportunities to build your skills and represent Laurier to other schools. Some conference opportunities include partial funding provided.
Information Sessions
Throughout the year there will be various information sessions facilitated by individual accounting firms. This is a great opportunity to explore what it would be like to work at different firms, discover more about the accounting field, find answers to any specific questions you may have, and meet campus recruiters face-to-face. General Meeting
The LAA does not have regular general meetings, but rather one open meeting at the beginning of the year to provide information about the LAA team, our organiational strategy, upcoming events for the year, and answer any questions the general Laurier student body may have.
